M.A. CURRICULUM IN SPANISH w/ THESIS 

Thirty total hours of credit**

Three required courses: 6-9 hrs:
5352-Methods of Literary Criticism
5354-Hispanic Literary Concepts
LING 5322-Teaching Foreign Language (Required for TAs & GPTIs; encouraged for all others)

One course each from five of the following areas: 15 hrs:

(Substitutions for required courses permitted when courses are not available during student’s enrollment. Comparable course-work from other universities will be evaluated.)

A Minimum of 6 hours of 6000 (maximum 12): 6 hrs.

Electives (Study Abroad strongly recommended): 6-9 hrs:
5348 - Study abroad culture
5347 - Study abroad language
53-- (all other courses)
A minor (minimum 6 hours)
7000-Research (maximum 6 hours)

**Requirement not counting toward the 30 needed:
Reading knowledge of a language other than Spanish or English.
