M.A. CURRICULUM IN SPANISH, NON-THESIS: Thirty-six total hours of credit**
I. Required courses, 6-9
hours:
5352-Methods of Literary Criticism
5354-Hispanic Literary Concepts
Linguistics 5322-Teaching Foreign Language (Required for TAs
& GPTIs; encouraged for all others)
II. 27-30 hours from the
courses listed below. Students are required to take two courses in Penninsular
literature, two in Latin American literature and a fifth course
from Other Areas.
Students should take
courses in the three main genres and in a variety of periods in order to acquire
a broad general background
in literature in preparation for the Masters exams (see Procedures
for M.A. Exams in Spanish and
Masters
Exam Reading List). They
may choose a minor consisting of 6 hours and/or any other courses from the
lists to complete 36 hours.
