Physical Geology - 1303
A study of earth materials (rocks
and minerals), gradation (erosion and
deposition), diastrophism (earth
movements and mountain building),
volcanism and earth resources.
Environmental Geology - 3323
A study of geological processes that
affect and are affected by human
activities; emphasizing earth cycles,
water resources, waste disposal, energy
resources, geology and human health;
also including mineral resources,
natural hazards, and land use and
planning. Prerequisite: GEOL 1303.
Inorganic Geochemistry - 5405
The application of chemical principles
and fundamental concepts as applied in
understanding, predicting and modeling
geochemical processes. An introduction to aqueous geochemistry, thermodynamics,
isotope geochemistry.
Environmental and Aqueous
Geochemistry - 5305
The interaction of aqueous solutions
with geologic systems, including topics
such as carbonate geochemistry,
solid/solution interface chemistry,
acid-base reactions. Topical studies in
the environment: weathering reactions,
redox chemistry, acid mine drainage.
(Course may be repeated for credit).
